First meal of the day is very important because it provides the necessary energy to start your day. So having a good breakfast is essential. And if it’s topped with extra love and a little of sweetness and romanticism… the power of this breakfast is awesome! It can boost your energy, boost your mood, lift up your day with a cheerful big smile.

……………… And………….. it’s also the other reason why I gained weight =D

Lovey breakfast on bed prepared by Ken early in the morning, the day after Valentine’s. Heart-shaped egg, heart-shaped sausages, heart-shaped bread. Even the apple and strawberries look like heart-shaped too.

My heart melted that morning, that my body feel so soft that I feel reluctant to go out for a walk.

Mum always say, we should always get a caring bf that can cook for us. Always listen to what your mum tells you because mother’s instincts are always right. =) If good cooking can tie a man’s heart, it works on the ladies as well.

A dollar for a life.

A mother biggest joy is to be able:
- to see the first smile on her child’s face
- to hear her baby call her Mama for the first time
- to watch her child start her first step in walking
- to dress up her child in colourful costumes
- to comb and tie ponytail for her little girl

but all these can only be Holly’s dreams.

Her story

Holly Alonzo is a 21 years old mother and wife with a genetic condition called Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2), which is tumors grow on the spine and cranial nerves. Holly was diagnose when she was 13 years old, a year earlier than Yvonne. At that time, the doctors found a tumor wrapped around her brain stem. This tumor had to be removed, and she I woke up blind.

Holly is married with a newborn and she also has bilateral Acoustic Neuroma and became deaf in the first ear. Being blind, she was unable to see her child smile. She could only depend on her good ear to feel close to her baby. Right now the tumor on the good ear is growing and the one ear with residual hearing, is also in danger.

Holly is now hoping to get an Auditory Brainstem Implant (ABI). The implant will provide her with some auditory stimulation so that will not have to risk being completely blind AND deaf. Unfortunately, the procedures to get the implant are only done at select hospitals, and these hospitals do not accept her insurance (Medicaid). The estimated cost of the surgery is USD 60,000.

When Yvonne told me about Holly, I feel so sad for her. I could understand how she feels inside. If you are someone’s mum or dad, I’m sure you know how Holly feels. Children is everything for a mother. Being blind and completely deaf means that Holly will be totally disconnected from her child and she doesn’t want to. She is trying hard to obtain an Auditory Brainstem Implant. “A little sound would be better than no sound,” she said.

Yvonne and Pelf are launching this “Help Holly — Only A Dollar” campaign to raise funds for Holly so that she could have the ABI — so that she doesn’t have to risk losing her sight AND her hearing.

Yes, it’s Only A dollar. With every dollar that you give in, you can change Holly’s life.

For bloggers, you can play a part too!
1) Blog about Holly Alonzo and her condition and help spread the news as much as you can.
2) Place a “Save Holly” badge on your blog. (the badge can be obtain from Holly’s blog.)
3) Donate to Holly. Remember we are only asking for a dollar?
4) Get your blogging network friends to blog about and donate to Holly too. The faster this campaign spreads like wildfire, the sooner Holly will be able to get the ABI.

It’s time for photohunt again this week. Time passes so quickly. Once again it’s end of the week.

Since the theme is pink this week, I take this opportunity to intro Ken Bear’s girlbear to all of you. Yes, Ken Bear is attached to someone, no longer a bachelor… sorry to all the girls out there!~
(Huh? Who is Ken Bear?Click here to find out.)

Here is Bie Bear, she was named after the famous korean singer Bi aka Rain by her mummy. One fateful day, she met Ken Bear and they fall in love slowly with each other. Unfortunately Bie Bear had to accompany her lonely mum in Russia so she had to be separated from Ken Bear for some time. She hopes to celebrate next year Valentine’s day with Ken Bear.

This is Ken Bear’s favourite picture of Bie Bear.

However, this is my personal favourite. I think Bie looks super adorable here just like her mummy. Don’t you think so? *wink wink

So dear friends, which picture of Bie do you like? The 1st one or the 2nd one? Do drop me some comment! or else Bie Bear will be very unhappy because this is her first time being featured in a blog. Do give her a lot of support!

The other night, we went out yumcha at restoran kayu in taipan. As everyone gets excited, the chatting continues and everyone exchange stories and laughed. But I suddenly stopped and start noticing that the lonely Yvonne sitting beside me feel left out. She starts connecting to the net and chat with people on msn. I looked around and then try to imagine myself in her shoe.

Sometimes I feel that we are so selfish because we have forgotten about Yvonne when the storytelling gets more interesting. Yvonne have lost her hearing in recent years, when I talk to her I need to write or type it out for her and she will reply me with a soft voice because she is afraid that she might be too loud and disturb other people because she couldn’t hear her own voice.

Sitting between us, unable to hear us means she couldn’t join in our conversation and her soft beautiful voice is covered by the pasar malam style shouting background. I felt her loneliness there. I know she tried hard to get our attention and try to take part in our conversation but she doesn’t know what we are talking about. I know what she is experiencing but all I could do is just watch her from the side.

Whenever I was with Yvonne, I would pay full attention to her and be sensitive to all her needs. As time passed, Yvonne is losing her body function one by one, each time I saw something new in her blog, I feel like a needle pricking my heart and yet I couldn’t do anything to help her. I wish that I own a pair of hand that could discover something remarkable that can cure Neurofibromatosis. But all I could do for her now is to love her and treasure her more than anyone in this world. When she needs help, I’ll help as much as I could. If I couldn’t afford to help then I’ll figure out a way to help her.

This coming November, Yvonne needs to go back to LA for medical check up. Charity auctions will be held from now on to help her raise her medical funds. Earrings, bracelets from VanityVault and corsets brought back from Russia by me will be auction off for this charitable cause. I am not a rich girl, the only thing I can do to help her is to model for her. Do lend me a hand to help my dearest friend.

The other day when we were at Halo cafe, volunteers from ShuangFu organisation were there to promote the organisation and to raise funds for the disabled. But sadly, I realised not everyone will care and take notice about them. Here I am, writing this post to introduce Shuang Fu (Double Happiness) organisation to the world out there. I hope everyone could give the disabled people a helping hand.

Shuang Fu (Double Blessing) was founded by Madam Shen Chiu Hsiang, who is a disabled person herself and her husband Rev. Ch’ng Joo Beng to enrich the lives of the disabled through training and building up their self confidence. It was officially open by Datuk Seri Dr. Fong Chan Onn, the Minister of Human Resources Ministry, Malaysia on 19th August 2001.

Currently they have this programme, just give rm10 to the organisation and you will be given a list to fill in 10 important dates and Shuang Fu will help to remind you your special date via SMS. In this way, you can help this charity body to raise fund and at the same time provide a job for the disabled. The card is available in all the participating outlets, so far I only know Halo cafe is one of the participant. The next time you drop by Halo cafe, besides dedicating songs for your loved ones, do a bit for the disabled. Fill in the card, give in rm10 and you will be able to help many people. Rm10 is a small amount to you but for the needy ones it can change lives. I have done my part, have you? Be a caring Malaysian today!
