Photohunt 90: Delicious
I used to never like cheesecakes. I feel nausea after eating them. But one day I discovered that how delicious it is. This blueberry cheesecake from Secret Recipe was the first cake I ate, the first cake I could taste after my taste buds lost function due to radiotherapy. I still can remember that taste vividly in my mouth. That is the only taste that stays in my mouth when other cakes tasted bitter or sour to me.
3 months later, now the function of my taste buds has recovered. And the 1st cake I chose to eat is the same cake because it means something to me. People like to take every bodily function that they have for granted but one day when you lose one of this minor function, you will realized that how difficult it was to carry on your life like normal.
I love to eat and I enjoy good meals. Unable to taste anything with my tongue, that was the most torturing moment in my life. I hope everyone would appreciate their ability to taste. Without this function, even the most delicious food will make you puke. You could smell it, desire to eat it but when put in your mouth, it taste perverted and you will feel like giving up on eating forever.
Being able to taste is indeed a great gift from God. I hope everyone will appreciate and enjoy every meal that you take.

I remember one Christmas I spent with a very bad cold. There was a family gathering with delicious treats on the table but all I could sense was temperature, I was so sick I couldn’t taste…I felt miserable because of that!!! and learned to appreciate my taste buds. Thanks for reminding me of this wonderful sense!

I simply adore Cheesecakes and particulary the Saint Amour or the Saint Love! Nice to recover all your sens of taste! And thanks for this beautiful picture!
Our sense are a gift from God. With the sense of taste, we know what is good to eat and what is not. It is a defense mechanism. We know when food has gone bad and how would taste like.
Actually, not everyone shares the sense of loss when they are unable to taste. After my surgery in Novermber 2006, I could not taste, had little to no saliva, and could hardly eat. Though I was walking about, but I could not eat. Even so, it wasn’t all that depressing because overcoming the surgery is already a very good thing.
Personally, I would think we should detach ourselves from worldly pleasure. If we can taste, then good. Praise God. If we can’t taste, then let it slide. Life goes on. Now I still can’t enjoy food as much as others do. Most food still don’t quite taste right. Sour unlike sour, salt unlike salt, sugar unlike sugar. But life goes on. It’s no biggie not being able to taste.
I appreciate that I have taste bud to taste delicious food.
Have a happy weekend~
