- to hear her baby call her Mama for the first time
- to watch her child start her first step in walking
- to dress up her child in colourful costumes
- to comb and tie ponytail for her little girl

but all these can only be Holly’s dreams.

Her story

Holly Alonzo is a 21 years old mother and wife with a genetic condition called Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2), which is tumors grow on the spine and cranial nerves. Holly was diagnose when she was 13 years old, a year earlier than Yvonne. At that time, the doctors found a tumor wrapped around her brain stem. This tumor had to be removed, and she I woke up blind.

Holly is married with a newborn and she also has bilateral Acoustic Neuroma and became deaf in the first ear. Being blind, she was unable to see her child smile. She could only depend on her good ear to feel close to her baby. Right now the tumor on the good ear is growing and the one ear with residual hearing, is also in danger.

Holly is now hoping to get an Auditory Brainstem Implant (ABI). The implant will provide her with some auditory stimulation so that will not have to risk being completely blind AND deaf. Unfortunately, the procedures to get the implant are only done at select hospitals, and these hospitals do not accept her insurance (Medicaid). The estimated cost of the surgery is USD 60,000.

When Yvonne told me about Holly, I feel so sad for her. I could understand how she feels inside. If you are someone’s mum or dad, I’m sure you know how Holly feels. Children is everything for a mother. Being blind and completely deaf means that Holly will be totally disconnected from her child and she doesn’t want to. She is trying hard to obtain an Auditory Brainstem Implant. “A little sound would be better than no sound,” she said.

Yvonne and Pelf are launching this “Help Holly — Only A Dollar” campaign to raise funds for Holly so that she could have the ABI — so that she doesn’t have to risk losing her sight AND her hearing.

Yes, it’s Only A dollar. With every dollar that you give in, you can change Holly’s life.

We love and treasure lives so much that’s why we chose this path. Study medicine, become a doctor and give life a second chance to live. When I got cancer, I feel that my life turn upside down. I keep thinking how disappointed and regretful I would be if I have to die early and unable to achieve my dreams to protect lives. Today, a brilliant future doctor passed away before she manage to realize her dream.

Lee Nian Ning, 21 yr old medical student studying in UNSW, Australia, passed away in a bus crash accident near Slim River on Friday. Read the article from theStar.

This is not the first time we hear people die in such accidents caused by irresponsible bus driver. And each time such accident happened, I will close my eyes and hope I won’t see a familiar name listed as the victims in the newspaper. We wanted all the best for the people we love and hope they are safe but not everytime we will be so lucky. We can’t predict when bad luck will hit us but we definitely can do something to prevent accidents from happening.

Nian ning family have decided to take legal action on the bus company. Let’s help Nian Ning’s family and fight for justice with them. If you are one of the victims or families of the victims from the bus crash, please step forward to contact Chung Lern and Nian Ning’s families. What you do today may change the fate of other passengers.

CNY coming soon in a week, I guess everyone has been busy going shopping as well. Hehe I started to like Pavillion a lot because all the shops there are HUGE. I mean really huge! Forever21 at 1U is kinda small and messy and i don’t like to go there because it’s always packed with people as well. But Forever21 shop in Pavillion is so BIG, so Beautiful, so Empty! =D

I found this white and soft furry coat somewhere at the end there. Though no money to buy (too poor, cannot afford), can wear for a while to camwhore also good. Lol.

Wearing this make me look like Mafia’s wife. (Mafia tai lou = Ken) Hehehe… a lot of people also commented that Ken looks like one gangster tai lou when he marah-marah.

My sister say this coat feels like teddy bear furcoat. @-@ They skinned teddy bears to make this coat???

Sorry for such a long wasteful stupid post. But once in a while, acting stupid is quite fun as well. When it’s time to work, we work seriously. When it’s time to play, we should enjoy ourselves and play along with our companion. Simple and yet happy little things. These are the things that most people have forgotten. Liking something doesn’t mean that you have to own it. Get to know about its existence, get to see and touch it will be good enough. We can’t own everything in this world because there are too much beautiful things in this world.

Lack of updates, what am I doing actually lately?
1) Lazy to update because streamyx so slooowwwww…….
2) Because have been going out everyday.

I’m not sure whether it is medically or scientifically proven or not, but I think emotion and mental status of a person affects the overall bodily function. The reason why I can recover so quickly is because I’m always surrounded by people who keep me smiling through sunshine or rain. Belle looked so happy to find that I look so much healthier now compared to the last time she saw me 3 months ago. This whole week I have been spending time with bloggers who were there for me since the begining watching me going through pain, sorrow and joy. I feel so glad that I blogged and get to know these people.

The day before Thaipusam, I went for lunch with Babyfiona, her taiwanese actor look alike hubby and Nesh at Old Town kopitiam in Taipan.

Yesterday supposedly meet up with Fooie but then ended up bringing along ex-schoolmates. There from left, the legendary D-cup girl Kyira (ahaha her warbook IGN), Hooilian, me, Sue Yin. We were camwhoring at the washroom of Groove Junction bistro in Hartamas. Akaka… people shouldn’t make such a nice toilet hor? Because everyone will stuck there for a very long time for camwhoring.

Fooie and me. He has been a very good friend to me since a very long time ago.

The great timeline band (i think it’s this name… eerrhhh suddenly lupa) and lead singer Alvira Arul. She got a great voice and a group of very happening members of the band.

Up next, tomolo will be meeting Yvonne. (Aaahhh feel so paiseh, kinda abandoned her this holiday because I was busy going out with other bloggers.) Then next monday I have a date with April. Oh oh.. I still haven’t meet Fiona, Christina, and so on. Curryegg wants to go out yumcha, anyone interested? Drop me a comment!

Last summer I spent most of my time in SJMC cancer centre so I was unable to go out to meet my fellow bloggers. This holiday and next upcoming holiday in July, I will spend more time upclose and in person with all of you that has been here always for me. Thank you everyone. I love you guys!

That’s all about my thaipusam cuti at home. When it’s holiday and everyone is on the net…. that’s when I feel most tu lan. Internet moving slower than snail. When is Tmnet gonna make one iStreamyx buddy with a new icon like Mogi… maybe name it Meeju?

I waited for the page to load until I fall asleep. And yea… recently my head feel very heavy as if there’s a big stone sitting on it. I feel so tired even though I slept so much. Why ah? Because of the hot weather here? Uuurrrggghhh I beh tahan with the heat.
